When Balenciaga Was Cool

#WhenBalenciagaWasCool

I found the hashtag in instagram a couple of week ago. Marie-Amélie Sauvé, a long-time friend and collaborator of designer Nicolas Ghesquière, leads the use of the hashtag. I do agree with her because i don’t find the glorious moments of Balenciaga since PPR ending the contract with Nicolas Ghesquière in November 2012. I admire Nicolas Ghesquière work in Balenciaga. His education was all on the job, starting with an internship at agnès b at age 14. By the time he was 25, he was at the helm of Balenciaga and 15 years later, he left the brand. He is a genius young designer. When i read the article about why he left Balenciaga, i felt like speechless. But now, he’s  already at the top of Louis Vuitton and just won the British Fashion Award for International Designer beats Hedi Slimane and Raf Simons.

Let’s take a look back on Balenciaga collection and campaign archive from early 2000 under the helm of Nicolas Ghesquière that i got from thefashionspot, style.com, and models.com.

Prada Spring/Summer 2015

A huge purple sand dune was the design of the fashion show venue for Prada Spring/Summer 2015 when Gemma Ward opened the show and marked one of the biggest modelling come back in recent years. The Aussie beauty, who used to be Steven Meisel muse, wore a black coat with white topstitch and a pair of beautiful clog.

Prada requested 30 different brocades from the 19th century exclusively to be reproduced for the collection so there you see the fabulous collection from Mrs. Prada.

I love the mix of fabrics, include gauze, rawhide, raw canvas, fur, leather, cotton, jersey, and silk, in contrasting colors and patchwork. Mrs. P wanted to revive the beauty of incredible fabrics.

The all-feminine clothes with no trousers, just skirts, with unraveling threads.

A leather trimmed with brocade skirt. <3

Knee-length coat, simple sweater, skirt, and socks for summer? Who cares baby. It’s PRADA.

The combination of clogs and boot with wooden high heels and jacquard socks were perfectly beautiful.

Pick your favorite bag.

Prada Bags I really love the collection. What a genius designer.

Here are the Prada Spring/Summer 2015 campaign with Gemma Ward and Ine Neefs front the camera of Steven Meisel.

Gucci Spring/Summer 2015 Review

Kate Moss, Charlotte Casiraghi, and Mrs. Anna Wintour sat in the front row of Gucci spring/summer 2015 fashion show. Frida Gianini showed the 70’s vibe to the collection after the 60’s to Gucci fall/winter 2014.

Carolin Loosen opened the show wearing nautical white dress, scarf, brown messenger bag, and a pair of sandal with python skin strap circling three times around the ankle. Make up and hairdo by Guccy beauty, which also Casiraghi presents, were minimal but modern. The parade of long sleeve suede dress, multicolor Mongolian lamb fur vest wore by Dr. Nobis (my favorite look), some gorgeous flowing dress with Asia’s vibe in flower patchwork pattern printed silk, and head-to-toe denim looks.

The color of the collection are white, brown, orange, burgundy, blue, and bottle-green with materials come from suede, Japanese silk, denim, fox fur, goat skin, python, cotton, naval buttons, and leather. Anja Rubik’s bottle green leather dress with embroidery details and belt circling around her waist was just beautiful.

Carolin final look, a Chinese inspired print silk trimmed with crystals cocktail dress, was also beautiful.

The luxury in casual everyday look in Gucci spring/Summer 2015.
